Music in the most private setting and at the wrong time: The piece «Home (Münstergasse 37)» by the Biel-based accordionist and sound artist Jonas Kocher explores the intimacy of the music in an apartment in the centre of Bern’s old town.

Private time has been deposed to official time. In the private sphere, I can do whatever I want to as long as I don’t bother anyone—that includes music at unconventional times. This is exactly what sound artist Jonas Kocher conceived for the ensemble Aabat in «Home (Münstergasse 37)». During the festival, the musicians set themselves up in an apartment – where two of them live – in the Bernese old town and perform Kocher’s composition, which was specifically written for this place. The intimacy of the music arises from the sounds, tunes, body and voice: a delicately differentiated game of perception, space and intimacy.
